As a spin-off from Ghent University and KU Leuven, we are building Precision Lysin Therapeutics (PLTs), a novel class of targeted biologics designed to selectively eliminate harmful bacteria without driving antimicrobial resistance.
By combining synthetic biology, AI, and machine learning, we are accelerating the design of lysins against multidrug-resistant pathogens. Our initial focus is on severe bloodstream and lung infections in vulnerable hospital patients, where treatment options are increasingly limited.
Some key milestones:
Founded in 2023 as a university spin-off
€6M raised from leading biotech investors, plus €1.9M in VLAIO support
First clinical candidates targeted for 2027, with clinical studies planned for 2028
Expanding into wound infections through a European transformational antibiotics program (END2AMR, IHIEurope)
Antimicrobial resistance is one of the greatest threats to modern medicine. At Obulytix, we are committed to developing breakthrough solutions that help protect the future of healthcare.
